Some adults become concerned about when, why or how often they drink. You may want to change a social routine, drink less often or feel more deliberate about your choices.
I offer hypnotherapy as a complementary form of support for non-dependent drinking habits. It is not a detox service or treatment for alcohol dependence.
Please read this first
If you experience shaking, sweating, nausea, anxiety, disturbed sleep or a racing heartbeat when you delay or stop drinking, you may be physically dependent on alcohol.
Do not stop drinking suddenly if you may be dependent. Sudden withdrawal can be dangerous. Contact your GP or a local alcohol service for medical advice before reducing or stopping.
Call 999 or go to A&E for severe withdrawal symptoms such as a seizure, hallucinations, marked confusion or severe shaking.

Where a session may fit
Hypnotherapy may be considered when an adult:
- is not physically dependent on alcohol
- has chosen a clear and realistic change
- would like support with routines or situations associated with drinking
- understands that the session does not replace medical or specialist care
A session may involve discussing the pattern, planning for situations that make the change harder and using focused attention or imagery to rehearse your chosen response.
When to seek specialist help
Speak to a GP or alcohol service if:
- you are worried about the amount you drink
- you struggle to control or stop drinking
- alcohol is affecting your health, relationships, work or safety
- you have withdrawal symptoms
- you drink to avoid feeling unwell
- you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy and find it difficult to stop
NHS information about alcohol-use disorder and local services is available at nhs.uk. You can also contact Drinkline on 0300 123 1110.
I will not proceed if your description suggests that medical assessment or specialist alcohol support should come first.
